Perinatal Psychology

At MIWM, our perinatal mental health team includes perinatal psychologists, a clinical psychologist, and a mental health nurse practitioner. We provide integrated, compassionate care for individuals and couples who are planning or trying to conceive, navigating pregnancy, or adjusting to life with a new baby.

This stage of life can be meaningful, complex, and at times overwhelming. We offer a supportive space to help you make sense of your experience, navigate challenges, and feel more confident in yourself and your relationships.

We support a range of perinatal mental health concerns, including antenatal and postnatal anxiety and depression, birth trauma, fertility challenges, assisted conception, and experiences of grief and loss, including miscarriage and infant loss. We also work with parents experiencing difficulties with bonding, heightened stress, relationship strain, or the identity changes that often accompany matrescence and patrescence.

Our multidisciplinary team allows us to offer a more comprehensive approach to care. This may include psychological therapy, as well as assessment, care planning, and additional support where presentations are more complex or require a more integrated approach.

Our work is grounded in attachment and relational frameworks, recognising that wellbeing is closely connected to your relationship with your baby, your partner, and yourself. Therapy is tailored to your needs and may draw on evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based practices, and trauma-informed modalities.

Babies are always welcome in session.
