Immunisations

Immunisations at MIWM

Keeping your family healthy starts with the simplest of steps. At Maternal and Infant Wellbeing Melbourne, our immunisation service is designed to make protecting your loved ones simple and calm. Whether you’re bringing your baby for their routine childhood vaccines, safeguarding your pregnancy, or helping grandparents stay protected through flu season, our team is here to support you.

Our friendly doctors and nurses create a safe and reassuring environment for every family. We take the time to explain each vaccine, answer your questions, and help your child feel settled and comfortable. Appointments are never rushed — we allow space for feeding, cuddles, and anything else your little one may need. Our goal is to make every immunisation visit relaxed, informative, and centred around the wellbeing of your whole family.

What We Offer

We provide a comprehensive range of immunisations to support families at every stage, including childhood vaccines, recommended immunisations during pregnancy, and flu vaccines for grandparents and carers.

  • We offer all National Immunisation Program (NIP) funded vaccines for babies and children from birth to four years of age, supporting families to keep their little ones protected during these important early years.

In line with the NIP, we also provide additional vaccines for children who are at increased risk, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and those with certain medical conditions who are eligible for extra doses or extended schedules. Our team will take time to review your child’s individual needs and ensure their immunisation plan is tailored appropriately.

Vaccinations are delivered by our experienced nurses and doctors who understand the needs of young children and their families. We focus on creating a calm and reassuring experience, using age-appropriate toys and gentle distraction to help babies and toddlers feel more at ease during their appointment. After vaccination, families are welcome to spend time in our relaxed, child-friendly spaces to help little ones settle before heading home. All childhood immunisations are recorded with the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR), keeping your child’s records up to date for childcare and future school requirements.

  • Vaccination during pregnancy plays an important role in protecting both mum and baby throughout pregnancy and into the early newborn period. At MIWM, we provide recommended antenatal vaccines, including influenza and whooping cough, as part of a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to pregnancy care.

We take the time to explain the purpose of each vaccine, the recommended timing, and how immunisation during pregnancy helps protect your baby in their first months of life. Appointments are unhurried and supportive, with space for questions and reassurance so you can feel comfortable and informed in your decision-making.

For added convenience, pregnancy vaccines can be administered as part of your GTT Experience at MIWM, or booked as an immunisation only appointment, depending on what best suits your needs and schedule. Our team is here to support you with calm, compassionate care at every stage of your pregnancy journey.

  • Grandparents, carers, and close family members play an important role in protecting newborns and young infants. We welcome grandparents and carers to attend MIWM for vaccinations that help reduce the risk of illness in the early months of life.

We currently offer National Immunisation Program (NIP) funded influenza vaccines on site, as well as privately funded influenza vaccines for those who are not eligible under the NIP.

Where additional NIP-funded vaccines are recommended, these can be ordered with sufficient notice and administered at MIWM once available. Our team is happy to discuss eligibility and timing to help coordinate care.

For privately funded vaccines beyond influenza, a prescription can be arranged by booking an appointment with one of our doctors. Once the vaccine has been obtained from the pharmacy, it can be brought to your appointment and administered by our team in a safe, supportive environment.

Our aim is to make it as easy as possible for the people closest to your baby to stay protected, with clear guidance, flexible options, and calm, family-centred care.

  • In addition to National Immunisation Program (NIP) vaccines, Maternal and Infant Wellbeing Melbourne also offers a range of privately funded vaccines for children, adults, and families who may require additional protection outside the funded schedule.

Privately funded vaccines may be recommended based on individual circumstances, travel plans, medical risk factors, workplace requirements, or personal preference. Our clinicians will take the time to discuss your needs, explain the benefits and timing of each vaccine, and help you make informed decisions for yourself and your family.

Who May Benefit from Privately Funded Vaccines

Privately funded vaccines may be suitable for:

    • Children requiring vaccines not covered under the NIP

    • Adults seeking additional protection

    • Families preparing for travel

    • Individuals with specific medical or occupational risk factors

    • Parents wishing to extend protection beyond the routine schedule

As with all immunisations at MIWM, privately funded vaccines are delivered in a calm, supportive environment by our experienced team. Appointments are unrushed, with time for questions and reassurance, and are tailored to suit the needs of babies, children, and adults alike.

Where appropriate, vaccines can be coordinated alongside other appointments to make visits as convenient as possible for families.
