When IV Fluids or Iron Infusions May Help?
IV Fluid
IV fluid therapy may be especially helpful if you’re experiencing dehydration due to persistent nausea or vomiting during pregnancy — including morning sickness or hyperemesis — and finding it difficult to keep down food or fluids. In these situations, gentle IV hydration can help restore balance more quickly and comfortably, supporting your energy, wellbeing, and day-to-day function.
Iron Infusion
Iron infusions may be beneficial if you’re managing low iron levels and experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, breathlessness, difficulty concentrating, or general weakness, particularly when oral iron is not well tolerated or hasn’t been effective. By restoring iron stores more efficiently, an infusion can help improve energy, reduce symptoms, and support your overall health.
What to Expect
Telehealth Nurse Pre-Screening
Your journey begins with a short telehealth appointment with one of our nurses. This pre-screening ensures IV fluids or iron therapy is safe and appropriate for you, and gives you an opportunity to discuss your symptoms, concerns, and medical history.
Doctor Review & Prescription (If Eligible)
Following your nurse pre-screen, one of our GPs will review your information and determine whether IV therapy is suitable.
If you are eligible, the GP will prescribe the appropriate treatment and coordinate next steps.
If you are not eligible, our doctors will discuss alternative management options and ensure you feel informed and supported with a clear plan moving forward.
GP Consultation on the Day of Treatment
When you attend the clinic for your scheduled fluid infusion or iron transfusion, you’ll have a face-to-face GP consultation prior to treatment. This allows the doctor to confirm your suitability on the day, answer any questions, and ensure it remains the safest and most appropriate option for you.
Nurse-Administered Treatment
Your fluid infusion or iron transfusion is then administered by one of our experienced nurses in a calm, comfortable environment. You will be monitored throughout the treatment, with plenty of time for rest and reassurance. Our team remains with you to ensure your comfort and safety from start to finish.
