Kate Wilson-Woolley
BSc (Psych) (Hons)
Perinatal Psychologist
Kate (she/her) is a Registered Psychologist with a special interest in perinatal mental health. Kate also has experience working with children, adolescents, families, and in pain management.
Kate has worked with parents and babies for many years. After noticing a gap in support for new parents while studying, she trained as a postnatal doula offering in-home support before becoming a psychologist.
Kate feels privileged to support mothers and parents through the many layers of preconception and new parenthood, including the emotional challenges that can arise, such as anxiety and depression, pregnancy and infant loss, feeding difficulties, changes to identity and relationships, the pressure to look and feel a certain way, and the deep experience of bonding with a new baby. She believes every parent deserves a space to share honestly what's going on for them.
Kate is also mindful of how culture shapes the experience of new motherhood and parenthood, including the expectations, pressures, and support systems that come with it.
Sessions with Kate are warm and collaborative. She draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, with an attachment theory informed approach. She focuses on understanding and exploration during sessions and works with clients to identify practical skills and strategies that will make a difference in everyday life.
Babies are always welcome in sessions.
