Dr Samantha Daly

Dr Sam Daly is a passionate and caring rural generalist GP obstetrician who loves holistic medicine.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Sam graduated medical school at Monash University in 2013 before moving to the country where she fell in love with the breadth of rural medicine. Sam received her Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine in 2020.

She has completed additional qualifications to support her specialised care, including:

• Diploma of Child Health

• Advanced Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

She currently also works in obstetrics and gynaecology at Bass Coast Health providing antenatal, postnatal and intrapartum care including vaginal births and caesarean sections.

Sam is actively completing training to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and NDC Masterclasses in breastfeeding support, and unsettled infant and parental mental health.

Areas of Interest

Sam is experienced in all areas of general practice, with particular interest in:

• Pregnancy and postnatal care

• Sexual and reproductive health including insertion of Implanon and Mirena IUD, and medical termination of pregnancy

• Women’s health at all ages

• Breastfeeding medicine

• LGTBQI+ health

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health

• Children’s health

Sam’s true passion lies in women’s and children’s health, and she is excited to join MIWM. Her interest in breastfeeding medicine and young babies has blossomed since becoming an mum, and navigating the challenges of inducing lactation, two breastfeeding mums and infant sleep difficulties.

Outside of work, Sam is usually either spending time with her wife, two young children and fur child, or playing hockey. She recently represented Australia in masters hockey alongside her wife.
